Hello,
My name is Georgia Koumoushi.
I’m a multidisciplinary designer with a vast experience in graphics, interior and furniture design. Before deciding to be a full-time artist I worked in various disciplines as an Interior designer, a graphic designer, swimming pool designer, a sous chef, an okonomiyaki chef, across the globe - Cyprus, Italy and Japan.
Art has been and is my passion. In recent years I started working more on illustrations and paintings. I started participating in group exhibitions locally and internationally.
Statement
My art is very intuitive. I take inspiration from everyday life, my subconscious and my partner who was the reason that I started drawing seriously.
It was during the Covid-19 pandemic that I rediscovered my passion for drawing. Being isolated helped me find solace in drawing. It happened flawlessly. I found myself observing my partner's movements and felt that every particular moment is as important as the next. I let things guide me and at the end I found myself producing 11 illustrations. The series is called "The Muse".
I sometimes like to take a subject and "analyse" it through a drawing process that I call my 20 minutes of uninterrupted mindfulness. It might take longer than that but not less than 20 minutes. Not thinking. Just letting the brush flow on the paper. Then it's the emotion that guides me to the next brush stroke and the next and so on. Until I feel that it is done. "The progression of a figure" was conceived and crafted in this way.
My recent work revolves around my subconscious. Again I start with a feeling and no purpose. I work with the canvas and I like to use acrylics. I sometimes introduce other materials like oil pastels. My work is abstract and expressive. I rely on my instinct. For that reason my work changes as everything around me changes.
